Here are some of the things that happen at WWCC.
2nd Saturday of the month (Sep to May) @ 5:00pm and 6:00pm * Cost $8 adults and $3 children under 12
The monthly bean supper is a great place for fellowship! Whether you come just to eat or to volunteer, you'll leave fulfilled.
Thursdays @ 7:00pm
The Chancel Choir is our adult choir that sings regularly during worship. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 7-8:30pm and then again on Sunday mornings at 9:30am, prior to worship. You don't have to be a great singer ... you don't have to read music ... but a sense of humor helps!
The Celebration Choir is our children's choir that sings periodically throughout the year. Rehearsals are on Sunday mornings at 10am (after Sunday School).
Thursday Community Meals
Thursdays Sep to May @ 12pm * Cost $5
Each Thursday we host a meal for the whole community.
Wild & Wacky Book Group
Most Thursdays @ 1:00pm
The book group is an informal group who gather to discuss what they have been reading. They meet on Thursday afternoons at 1:00pm (after the Thursday community meal). Anyone is welcome to join.
Christmas Day Dinner
We host a free community Christmas Day dinner each year. Everyone is invited to come and share a meal and fellowship.
The visitation program is coordinated by the Deacons. We visit with our members & friends who are unable to attend worship due to illness or disability ... whether in the hospital or at home. When we celebrate communion in worship each month, additional bread and juice are consecrated that we then share on our visits.
4th Thursday of the month (Sep to May) @ 5:30pm * Cost $5.00
The Friends Club meets on the fourth Thursday of the months Sep, Oct, Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, and May. A very short business meeting follows the meal, and most meetings have a guest speaker. It is not just for people from our church; many of our group come from other churches, and we like to have members bring guests. A sign-up sheet is located in the church prior to the meeting night. We try to raise money throughout the year by putting on public suppers, and the monies are used for many different projects in the church.
Movies That Matter
Scheduled at various times
Periodically we will have a movie night where we gather to watch a movie and then discuss it afterwards. We provide snacks, and people bring a bag lunch and maybe something to share. The choice of movie varies ... maybe a drama ... maybe a documentary ... but usually something to provoke discussion. (But sometimes just for fun!)
Festival of Trees
We host an annual Festival of Trees which invites local businesses and organizations to join together in decorating themed Christmas trees. During the week of the Festival, the trees are on display for the public to enjoy. There are special events, meals, plus an ongoing Maine Garden Society Model Train display and collection of creches.
